It is said that one day, while hearing to wind hissing through the hollow
trunk of a tree, man wanted to imitate it. And invented the flute.
Everything in nature has its musicality. The wind picks up sounds on the
broad wig of trees and murmurs melodies while caressing petals of flowers and
small shrubs.
As the storm prepares, thunder rumbles, like the sound of drums marking the
soldiers' pace, with rhythm and strong beats.
When rain falls on dry land in drought, there is the buzz of those who
drink in a hurry.
Rivers and waterfalls sings, howls the wild sea.
All is sound and harmony in Nature. Even when the elements seem crazed,
announcing the storm.
And we remember the powerful harmonies of the Cosmos, a giant harp
vibrating under the Creator’s thoughts, the song of the worlds, the eternal
rhythm that cradles the genesis of stars and humanities.
In everything there is rhythm, harmony, musicality.
In our body, the heart beats rhythmically, lungs work at their own pace,
blood flows through veins and arteries.
All in compass. All in harmony.
Our pace, our speech is marked by rhythm.
Music is in nature, and because we are an integral part of it, we have
music in our intimacy. We are music!
That is why man, from the beginning, composed melodies to delight his
nights, to nourish longing, to sing loves, to mourn the dead.
Man also learned that through musical notes he could raise hymns of praise
to the Creator of all things.
And there arose the mystical music, the sacred music, the Gregorian
chant.
Among the Celts, harp was considered an inalienable asset, as were books
and swords.
They saw in music, the aesthetic teaching par excellence, the surest way of
raising thought to the Divine heights.
Primitive Christians while marching to martyrdom, did so chanting hymns to
the Lord. True prayers that led them to ecstasy and strengthened them to face
holocaust under fire, beasts, death... without fear.
Saul, king of the Israelites, during his nervous and obsessive breakdowns,
called David who, through the sounds of his harp, calmed him.
Music is the most sublime of all arts. It awakens in the soul impressions
of beauty. Better than the word, it represents movement, which is one of the
laws of life. That is why music is the very voice of the higher spheres.
Human voice has intonations of flexibility and variety that make it
superior to all instruments.
It can express states of mind, all feelings of joy and pain, from the
invocation of love to the most tragic cry of despair.
That is why the introduction of choirs in orchestrated music and symphony
has enriched the art of an element of charm and beauty.
That is why popular wisdom warns: Who sings, their evils scare!
