The great evil that plagues humans are in the failure of the conscience of each one of these beings. The unbridled worship of the "god-money" defeated all moral considerations. Good is what gives money; great is what gives millions without any work - is this unfortunate mindset that prevails today.

 

 

While man did not go through a deep inner reform, external reforms imposed as law by governments, are poor and inefficient.

 

 

Inner reforms, however, assumes something that is not in our law codes nor teaches at universities. Presupposes a knowledge of itself and a relentless fidelity to that higher Self and divine in man, because this divine Self in man imperiously requires equivalence between what is received for the work and the service that this work offers to others. Who receives and does not provide the corresponding service received, is a thief, is an exploiter, is guilty of an injustice, whatever his position in any institution, whether governmental or private. Even in the event that human laws acquit this defendant, before the justice of the Universe he is guilty.

 

 

Every injustice that a human being practice is the degradation of that individual, even if human law approve or disapprove. The individual who commits injustice will lose part of its value, ending, over time, in complete moral bankruptcy, although perhaps materially enriched with the product of its thefts. If this thief is illiterate on the field of self-knowledge and realization, it will be almost impossible to make him understand his sad state; became a millionaire at the expense of the sweat of others... but who will be able to prove that he is in disgrace?

 

 

However, this inability to prove to him that fact and to place before his eyes the authentic portrayal of the evil that he produced does not invalidate the fact of that evil.

 

 

This man accumulates within himself, increasing debts, a moral debt that has to be neutralized, according to the inexorable justice of the Cosmic Constitution. But the neutralization of debts accumulated during 10, 20, 50 years of abuse against other people and institutions, will bring inevitable suffering, whether in this world or in future existences. No one will go unpunished until the debt is paid off. The Cosmic Constitution is a fact, not a fantasy. No one can overthrow the Himalayas banging the head against that massive rock! no one can transgress with impunity against the eternal laws of Truth and Justice!...

 

 

The parasite and exploiter human being has only one way to redeem himself: being conscientious and to pay back to his fellows the portion for which he has responsibility before the Cosmic Laws, and to hand back the product of the previous robberies, according to the example of a great exploiter, Zacchaeus of Jericho, who, recognizing his sad state, said: "If I have defrauded anyone, I will pay it back four times, and, moreover, give to the poor half of my fortune."

 

 

The sacred books describe as "foolish" the unjust and sinful man - and these books have full reason! because is foolishness to conflict with the eternal laws and having to pay back huge debts because of a small immediate benefits! The lie, fraud, injustice, any sin or crime, provide almost always immediate advantage, and it is precisely because of this advantage that the offender does evil. If the sinner, breaking the eternal law and hence earning some immediate advantage, could pass unpunished forever, definitely; if, after pocketing the result of his theft, no harm happened to him, no suffering to await by an extra-human Supreme Court - so - would be great business to be bad, unfair, dishonest, exploiter, to win huge fortunes without doing anything.

 

 

But the Universe is a "Cosmos", a system of order and harmony, not a "chaos" of disorder and confusion. The Cosmic Constitution of the Universe imperiously requires the practice of Truth, Justice, Love, Solidarity, Honesty. Can, of course, the free creature violate this law, but the consequences of that offense inevitably turn against the offender, in the form of suffering of any kind. Suffering is the automatic echo of any violation of Cosmic Law. And no one knows how many years, decades or centuries correspond to each violation. The truth is that this painful penalty exists - as certain as the fact that the Universe is a Cosmos.

 

 

Therefore, it is evident stupidity to cause enormous suffering, though perhaps remote, to enjoy a small immediate advantage. On the other hand, is real wisdom to renounce to a immediate advantage and thus not to cause further suffering.

 

 

No one can escape the inexorable law of Cause and Effect; once set the cause, the effect follows with inevitable necessity and perfection. The Universe re-balances automatically - but this re-balancing is painful for the offender.

 

 

Being good, fair, honest, true, is painful because of the false general environment of human life, created by our pseudo-civilization. But, in any event, being good, fair, honest, true, is, ultimately, to be happy, although this inner happiness is momentarily surrounded by suffering. Basically, to be good is to be happy, and being evil is to be unhappy. We can deceive men - but no one can deceive the eternal law and its own conscience.
