MAN'S EVOLUTIONARY AND ANTI-EVOLUTIONARY FACTORS

In all non-human nature, there is the process of evolution that was judiciously established by Cosmic Laws.

In man, however, there is the possibility of a spontaneous and free evolution; only he can evolve or not evolve, depending on the creative power of free will existing in him. Man, alone is responsible for his evolution, not necessarily for his biological body, a body he has in common with other beings in nature, but for his typically hominal Being, his soul.

This process of human evolution fundamentally consists of harmonizing the human will with divine duty. The wanting is from the ego periphery; the duty is of the central Self.

The Bhagavad Gita says that the ego is the Self's worst enemy, but the Self is the ego's best friend.

From the hostility of the ego, there is no evolution towards the Self, but from the friendship of the Self, there is the possibility of evolution towards the enemy ego. The Self can integrate the ego within itself so that there is harmony between these two poles of human nature, giving rise to the integral man.

How can the friendly Self integrate the hostile ego into itself? How to establish this harmony... how to synthesize these antitheses peacefully?

It can be done only through the action of liberating truth.

How can the sapient Self make the insipient ego see that the ego's essence is essentially identical to the Self's essence?

Directly, the friendly Self cannot convert the hostile ego, however indirectly, it is possible.

If the Self comes to the full awareness of the truth about itself ("The Father and I are one"), then strange osmosis will occur, overflowing the Self into the ego.

And this osmotic penetration, this overflowing of the fullness of the Self, will benefit the ego. When a single man, says Mahatma Gandhi, comes to the plenitude of love, he neutralizes the hatred of millions.

When the Self reaches the plenitude of its divine consciousness, of its essential identity with the Infinite, it will neutralize the ego's enmity – and with this, the door opens for the harmonization between these two poles of human nature, that is, the definitive solution is in the mystique of the Self. This mystique of the Self will gradually produce the ethics of the ego; the fullness of the Self will overflow for the benefit of the ego.

For this overflow to be received by the ego, it must become receptive, which is the pre-mystical ethic of the ego, and always painful; “because strait is the gate, and narrow is the path, which leadeth to the Kingdom of God”. And, facing the pain of this pre-mystical ethics creates an opening to receive the overflow of the Self's plenitude.

Without this initial sacrifice, there is no harmonization of human nature. This sacrifice is a “doing the sacred thing”, which opens the door for man’s fulfilment.

At first, this sacred feat is painful, but in the end, it becomes “a soft yoke and a light burden” - and then man will find rest for his soul.

But how will this unreceptive ego become a receptive one?

Only for the perfect fulfilment of the Self! And of all other individuals of the human race, so that salvation lies in many individual men reaching their spiritual plenitude.

These many will always be few, very few, compared to the billions of profane egos.

What is certain is that quality acts on quantity, that the elite acts on the mass, as long as there is a powerful elite fully aware of the truth of their Being, and that this consciousness of Being is manifested in the experience of acting.

A little yeast leaves three measures of flour, says Jesus; a 100% realized Self lifts and transforms the three masses of the ego's nature, the physical, mental and emotional nature.

This osmosis, this vital induction of the Self into the ego, is infallible, assuming that the Self has already thoroughly permeated its own existence.

If this plenitude of Being does not exist, all saying and all doing is useless.

The problem of humanity's salvation lies in man's full realization. Without individual self-realization, there is no social salvation.

                                                     * * *

There are in sacred books two series of terrible curses to man; the Forces of Creation launched the first in Genesis; the second by Jesus, in the Gospel.

In Genesis, the withering curses are directed against lust. In the Gospel, against greed, which allows admitting that lust and greed are the most significant obstacles to man's evolution, which frustrate the reason for his advent and redemption.

After the serpent (intelligence) suggested the libido explosion as an autonomous end rather than a means, these Forces said the following: “Because you did this, you will crawl on your belly and your chest and eat the dust of the earth, all the days of your life”.

Soon after, these same Forces cast a curse on the woman, who obeyed the serpent’s suggestion: “In pain, you will give birth to your children, and you will have many discomforts with pregnancy. And you will be under the dominion of man”.

Upon man, this curse was then cast: “Let the earth be cursed for your sake; if you cultivate it, it will produce thorns and thistles for you, and in the sweat of your face, you will eat your bread”.

These curses are self curses of the man himself; they are the inevitable consequences of the tyranny of intelligence over reason; they are the defeat of the Self by the ego. The man curses himself when he does not harmonize his individual conscience with the universal conscience and when he does not realize the raison d'être of his terrestrial incarnation.

In the Gospel, the curses aim, preferably, at greed, as an obstacle to the ascending evolution of man. "Woe to you who are rich!... it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God... You cannot serve God and riches."

Two parables of the Gospel are directly aimed at the greedy: that of the rich man who had his storehouses enlarged to house the fruits of an extraordinary harvest and soon after died.

The other parable is that of the rich miser, who feasted splendidly every day and let poor Lazarus die of hunger at the entrance to his palace. Soon afterwards, he was buried in hell, where he could not get even a drop of water to ease his torments.

Why these strange curses on lust and greed?

Because these two vices invert the Cosmic Laws, distorting the very constitution of the Universe and human nature. These vices use the means as an end instead of using the means to reach a higher end. The slave of lust uses libido as an idol and as the supreme reason for his earthly existence. In modern times, the serpent of intelligence has managed to completely insulate the libido from procreation by inventing artificial means and other devices to facilitate lust as an autonomous end and causing more distortions.

As for greed, the modern man works intensely for many decades, only to pile up large amounts of “Satan’s excrement”, as the Italian philosopher, Giovanni Papini, called money. Large industries exploit millions of human slaves to give a life of super comfort to small groups of wealthy exploiters.

In summary: Libido energies and material property are used as autonomous ends. The authors of these vices come into conflict with Cosmic Laws, using means to ends diametrically opposed to the ends intended by natural laws.

In this way, those who use these devices criminally falsify the sacred Laws of the Universe and make human evolution impossible.

The curses of Genesis and the Gospel are self curses. It is not the Creative Forces nor the Christ Jesus that curse the slaves of lust and greed; man scourges himself. All guilt breeds suffering; guilt and the consequent penalty are correlative factors and inseparably united.

The Bhagavad Gita lists five pre-mystical self-fulfilment ethics: non-violence, truth, non-stealing, detachment, and sexual discipline.

The last two disciplines of Eastern philosophy are identical to those of Genesis and the Gospel: the lack of detachment from material goods and the lack of sexual discipline are considered by all sacred books as the great obstacles to the ascending evolution or self-realization of man.
