WHOEVER DOES NOT RENOUNCE EVERYTHING IT HAS

Many words of the Gospel have suffered, through the centuries, great adulteration and deceit when they fall into human hands, and, certainly, all divine revelations when landing in these hands are almost immediately contaminated by the interests of those who receive it. World-renowned writers and speakers, even Gospel ministers adhere to the blasphemy that Jesus proclaimed - just to name one example - blessed and citizens of the kingdom of heaven, the “poor in spirit,” that is, those of little intelligence, idiots and imbeciles, the mentally mediocre.

If this was so, Jesus himself, rich in spirit, would not be part of the blessed and possessors of the kingdom of the heavens.

No wonder what is more surprising in this interpretation, which has become proverbial, whether the hilarious ignorance of its authors or the revolting arrogance of the profaners of one of the most sublime messages of Jesus. They did not have the ability to comprehend that the message referred to the “poor by the spirit,” that is, the simple and humble ones, the deprived of ego.

And the same thing happened with the celebrated phrase: “Whoever does not renounce everything it has...”

After having gone through a long period of infancy and adolescence in theological Christianity, the message of Jesus is now entering adulthood of its Christlike quality, cosmic, which carries the metaphysical meaning of the cross in the divine Self and the Gospel in life... because everything evolves!

What Jesus said 20 centuries ago, amid paganism and Judaism, could not be properly comprehended by mankind at that time. Only one or other intuitive spirit has attained the exaltation of his message, which targeted Christlike humanity more than the still Adamic humanity of our day. This message was formulated in full pagan barbarism of the Roman Empire and in Jewish ritualism. Therefore, it was not comprehended as a message of the highest metaphysics. For this reason, the spiritual leaders resolved to present the cosmic metaphysics of the Gospel in the form of a theological pedagogy to moralize the primitive man. God, the Christ, the man, the life after death - everything was made public in infantile ways, “milk for children,” as Paul of Tarsus would say.

Two thousand years are for the evolution of mankind, what two years are for the child. The evolution goes with minimal steps in maximum spaces. Truth is, during these 20 centuries, there have always been spiritual geniuses who anticipated future centuries and glimpsed the divine soul of the message of Jesus. Lately, a growing number of men appear who envision spiritual Christianity in addition to theological Christianity. It is increasingly growing the desire for a direct experience of God, rather than a simple belief in doctrines about God. This experiential intuition is of a tiny elite compared to the vast majority of those who cannot surpass traditional belief.

This spiritual elite of Christendom knows that redemption is self-redemption and self-redemption is Christ-redemption, and Christ-redemption is redemption through the inner Christ who is present in every human being. According to the Gospel, this self-redemption consists of awakening Christ’s consciousness and experience according to this Christlike experience.

It is blatantly absurd to suppose that man, endowed with free will, can be redeemed by a factor alien to himself, which would be the total denial of man's spiritual autonomy. All accomplishment, redemption, salvation consists essentially of two aspects: Prayer and Renunciation. They are the two wings on which the soul rises in a flight to God. “Whoever does not renounce all that it has cannot be my disciple.” When Jesus demands this second attitude, he aims, first, not to renounce objective material goods, but rather to the subjective good of our ego, which is our great evil.

He who has not renounced his personal ego cannot renounce impersonal objects, and even if he renounced them, it would not be a perfect renunciation; it would be a forced and painful one. Renunciation made with pain is not guaranteed. Perfect renunciation is only the one done with joy and spontaneity - and this renunciation of impersonal objects is possible only based on renunciation of the personal ego. Those who have renounced their subjective ego find no difficulty renouncing objective material goods, which is its direct consequence.

This liberation from material bondage by spiritual force presupposes great experience and inner enlightenment. No one abandons something that it considers valuable without finding something more valuable. Those who have not found the “hidden treasure” and the “precious pearl” cannot abandon the pseudo-treasures and the false pearls of earthly goods.
