My friend, you cannot find God, but God can find you - as long as you allow that encounter, God will find you. If you create a favourable atmosphere within yourself, an attitude of permanent spiritual receptivity, an atmosphere conducive to spiritual humility, purity and uprightness of heart, you will surely be found by God. Prepare the paths within yourself for God to come to you - and God will come and dwell in you.
This atmosphere of encounter with God essentially consists of a progressive abolition of selfishness, in all its forms - individual, national and ecclesiastical selfishness – and in a growing proclamation of universal love. If you do not break the fragile shell of your tyrannical ego, you will never do anything great for humanity and nor for yourself. Still, if you take that leap, from your narrow selfishness to the vast Cosmos Consciousness of Universal Altruism, you will find with surprise that it will be a leap into a world full of life, joy, beauty.
Since the world exists, there is no example of one man who has found happiness - but all who were truly happy have attained happiness in making others happy. This is the eternal Cosmic Law: whoever wants to be happy without others, or against others, will always be unhappy because the world of God is a Cosmos, a system of order, harmony and rectitude, not chaos. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness, and all other things shall be added unto you.”
There is no God beyond the stars who can deliver you from the evils that afflict you - only the God within you can deliver you from evil - as long as you allow it. The so-called physical evils are not evils since none of them can frustrate your true destiny. Moral evils, however, are your creation, not God's.
